‘Supporting Medical staff outwith their normal remit during the Covid pandemic’
At the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, medical staff trainees to consultants were redeployed within our Board to support the medical directorate including Intensive care and High dependency units.
To support the staff we, the clinical skills team and clinical teaching fellows developed a workshop, a presentation and skills session to familiarise medical staff with information and equipment they may not have used in recent times, increase awareness of covid 19, share information from Infection Prevention & Control and practice donning and doffing.
This workshop and scenarios were also shared nationally as part of the collaboration with the Clinical skills managed education network.
The workshops were delivered by the team across acute sites with an invitation to GP and GP trainees to attend. The sessions were well attended with over 100 staff attending UHH, UHM & UHW and highly evaluated.
