Supporting you when you wobble

Wendy, AHP Practice Education Lead, deployed to SWEETS.

My role in SWEETS involved having conversations with staff about what spaces they needed, had and would like – what would support them, what was important to them.

It was always about the simple things, a comfy seat to sit on in my break, somewhere that’s quiet. Not huge and earth shattering.

I really valued taking the time to listen to the staff and listen to them come up with their own solutions about what would help. Wobble room spaces, safe spaces you could go to for 10 minutes and take a time out. Everyone done it differently, because they were all different, their spaces were all different and their needs different. Once one area started other areas started to pay attention and notice, then other places introduced their own spaces.

Sweets put together a quick an easy starter pack to get started – self help cards, colouring pages, laminated A4 larger cards/signs, and positive messages. Some areas created walls of things that made them feel good, things that were important to them, happy memories, it was really heart warming to see

Lockerbie Locality Offices created their Wobble room with a grand opening from Locality Manager, Gary Sheehan, on 29th April!

We received some puzzles and colouring in materials as well as some information cards.  A big Thank You to everyone involved!

Everyone who saw the room this morning felt it looked cosy and inviting.  We think it will be well used!
